I have a win 10 pro machine with 21H2.Running chromeġ.115. I guess that is the simplest way to solve it for all involved. So I will have to include in the specification that there shall be no Amber or red LEDs indicating normal operation. To ask if this is really normal use of amber LEDs, and it seems you guys think it is. That also lists blinking amber for normal operation. And with that problem solved I sat down and read the specs for the 4-in-1 unit. Fortunately for us they have agreed to change it (on the desktop). The Amber LED is not consistent with HP's other gear.

For some reason they decided to put one amber LED in the mix, there are three green LEDs there, one is actually bidirectional and blinks RED when there is a problem. They are also designed for business use, hence their uniformity. They are unlikely to randomly throw pink LEDs in the mix just because they can.

Both their desktop, workstation, laptop, tablets and server range of kit will be built to be the same (excluding specification changes). Ordering all the same LEDs for HDD and power and all the same for NICs is just easy, continent and logical. HP, Dell and other companies will build everything the same, it has nothing to do with seeing sense and everything to do with mass production. We are getting a new range of HP desktops and fortunately HP saw sense and will actually change the amber NIC activity light on the front to green.
